Created in 1999 and first presented at the Online
World conference that Fall, this award serves to recognize innovative
products that enhance the working environment of independent information
professionals. The products must be standouts in the areas of
innovation, ease of use, price, and adherence to marketing claims.
A panel of AIIP members assembled by the AIIP Awards Committee
judge each entry on the basis of usability, speed and content
(if relevant). Panel members directly evaluate the product, if
possible, and otherwise interview users. The AIIP Technology Award
consists of a framed certificate and a press release sent to a
wire service within a week of the Award announcement. A press
release announcing the winner will also be posted to the AIIP
website. Nominations are solicited via a variety of methods including
AIIP-L postings, a press release on the AIIP website, a press
release mailed to the AIIP contact list., AIIP Connections,
an AIIP broadcast e-mail to members and via additional electronic
mailing lists such as BUSLIB-L.
