The founder of the Hetherington Group, based in Wayne, New Jersey (www.hetheringtongroup.com), Cynthia Hetherington has been providing online and Internet research to private investigators, security specialists, and law enforcement professionals since 1993.

She holds a Master’s in Library Science and a Master’s of Information Systems Management, is the author of “Business Background Investigations” and the “Manual to Online Public Records” and has co-authored articles and monographs on steganography, computer forensics, Internet investigations and other security-focused subjects.

Margaret King
InfoRich Group, Inc.

Margaret King is president of InfoRich Group, Inc., a management-consulting firm, providing fundraising support in the areas of board development, prospect research, capital campaign, and general fundraising. She has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector and has been part of the executive management team for two internationally recognized nonprofit institutions. In addition to raising millions of dollars for her clients, she has broad experience developing and organizing nonprofit boards and advisory councils.

She also speaks and writes about contemporary fundraising and board development issues. A member of the adjunct faculty at Delaware County Community College and Eastern University, she teaches nonprofit management courses at graduate and undergraduate levels and is an instructor for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Philadelphia Chapter. She has served on several nonprofit boards and has evaluated grant proposals for the National Science Foundation. She earned a BS from Cabrini College and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University, and she completed a post-graduate program at Harvard University. She is a member of numerous organizations including the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Non-Profit Marketing Council.

Scott Brown
Social Information Group


 

Scott Brown is owner of Social Information Group, an independent consulting and information practice focused on the effective use of social networking tools for finding and sharing information. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies, government and non-profit organizations, and individuals to help them understand and effectively use these tools. He also provides coaching for information professionals. He has over 20 years experience in public, academic and corporate settings. Most recently, he was a Senior Information Specialist with Sun Microsystems, providing strategic research services and competitive intelligence information for many groups across the company. 

Scott is a founding Board member of the SLA CI Division, and adjunct faculty at San Jose State University in California and University of Denver in Colorado, USA. He is a frequent speaker on the use and evolution of social networking tools and information work. He received his library degree from San Jose State University in California in 1999, and holds a Masters in Counseling from Regis University in Colorado.

Vada Repta is President and co-owner of Precision Research Link, a consulting firm providing customized research and information services, as well as writing and editing services, for businesses, nonprofit organizations and government entities. The company has done extensive research in the health care information technology standards field, assisting organizations in promoting Electronic Health Records or other health care information technology applications. The company also assists nonprofits with grant writing and prospect searching.

Vada has over 20 years' experience in a variety of library positions and has worked as an English instructor, workshop presenter, and editor. She holds a Bachelors degree in Linguistics and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois. Vada is also a member of the American Library Association and Association of College and Research Libraries.

Lark Birdsong
Birdsong Information Services


Lark Birdsong provides web and online search training, conducts in-depth business research, and manages the information needs of small to medium sized businesses. She is director of the Information Literacy Initiative at the University of Washington’s Information School (http://isc.washington.edu/ili/) and president of Golden, Colorado-based Birdsong Information Services (www.larkbirdsong.com). She couples her industry experience with an MBA in Finance and Accounting, a Master’s in Education, and a Master of Library and Information Science degree at the University of Washington.

Betty Story is owner and founder of Story Information Services (www.storyinfo.net), which provides research for nonprofit agencies and special projects for libraries. Based in Neptune Beach, Florida, she helps museums and service agencies in the north Florida region find funding resources. Story has a background in international schools and has worked for school library projects in the Caribbean and Latin America. Information literacy is a special interest for Story, and she provides training on this topic to small businesses and community groups.

Ellen Naylor

Ellen Naylor is the owner of Colorado-based The Business Intelligence Source (TBIS, www.thecisource.com), which specializes in primary research and analysis such as win loss analysis, trade show analysis, elicitation and competitive intelligence (CI) process development. In addition to conducting and teaching CI, TBIS teaches cooperative intelligence that improves leadership, connection and communication. Prior to TBIS, Naylor started the CI operation for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) and worked in economic forecasting and CI at Northwest Airlines.

Naylor is a frequent speaker on marketing and competitive intelligence and a regular contributor to several publications, including Competitive Intelligence Magazine, published by Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (www.scip.org). Naylor, a recipient of SCIP's catalyst and fellow awards, earned a BA at the University of Notre Dame and an MBA at the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business.

Debbie Wynot

Debbie Wynot is the founder and co-owner of Library Consultants, L.L.C. Based in New Orleans, the company provides research, library management, and consulting services to enhance the information needs of the legal community.

Debbie has lengthy management experience in  school, public, academic, and private law firm libraries. She has spoken to school groups on the basics of social media and has offered disaster preparation to small business. The company provides litigation support for law firms, current awareness services for attorneys, reputation management, and social media strategies. Debbie has a Master of Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of New Orleans.
