AIIP Technology Award: Nominations

The Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) is pleased to announce a call for nominations for the 15th annual AIIP Technology Award. The AIIP Technology Award was created to recognize innovative products that enhance the working environment of the independent information professional.

Nomination Process

  • Both AIIP members and non-members may nominate any company or individual that produces information products (databases, web organizers, Internet sites) for web-based services or desktop software.  
     
  • The deadline for nominations is September 5, 2013.

To nominate a company or product, complete the nomination form(DOC format) and send entries to:

  • Electronic submittal is preferred. 

  • Please direct any questions regarding the award to the Chair of the AIIP Technology Committee at awards@aiip.org.

  • Awards will be announced in October at Information Today's Internet Librarian conference in Monterey, California, USA. The company selected to receive the award must commit beforehand to having a representative on hand at the conference to receive the award, or AIIP will select an alternative product/company for recognition.

Award Criteria

Winners of the AIIP Technology Award will be new products or technologies that help information professionals with their day-to-day operations in locating, analyzing, organizing, and delivering information.

The product must be related to the information field; AIIP does not consider accounting, word processing, database or spreadsheet, or other programs that are not directly related to locating, analyzing, organizing, or delivering information appropriate for this award.

The AIIP Technology Awards Committee will judge each entry on the basis of usability, speed, and content, if relevant. Committee members will review the nominations and submitted materials, directly evaluate the product if possible, and otherwise interview users.

Nature of the Award

Winners of the AIIP Technology Award will receive:

  • An award certificate;
     
  • Visibility at the Internet Librarian conference and in AIIP and Information Today publications; and
     
  • Recognition in the form of a press release distributed via wire service and posted on the AIIP web site within a week of the award announcement.
