Roger Summit Award Lecture

Past Presidents of the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) independently fund the Roger Summit Award Lecture for the purpose of sponsoring an industry leader to attend and speak at the annual AIIP Conference. The intent of this award is to attract an individual who will inspire and challenge AIIP members, thus contributing to our continuing education and development. The person who is selected each year is an innovative thinker or is able to present ideas in a manner that stretches the minds and imaginations of attendees. It is expected that individual recipients of the award will attend most of the conference sessions and social events so that members will have multiple opportunities for informal discussion with them.

Background:

AIIP chose to name this award after Roger Summit, who inspired us with his full participation in the 1998 Annual Conference, in recognition of his demonstration of self-renewal and continual learning through dialogue at professional conferences and meetings. Roger Summit has continued to be a major figure in the field of online information retrieval. Read more about Roger Summit.

Selection:

Awardees are selected by the annual conference planning committee.
