Mary Ellen Bates

Mary Ellen Bates is the principal of Bates Information Services Inc., which she founded in 1991, providing business analysis to business decision-makers, and consulting services to the information industry. She is the author of seven books on research and the information industry, has coached or mentored dozens of infopreneurs, and is a two-time past president of AIIP.

Birgit Bauer

Birgit Bauer is a veteran information professional in Austria. She systematically searches, analyzes and prepares information on behalf of Austrian and international clients. She ran the information service with Austria Wirtschaftsservice, the development bank for small and medium-sized enterprises of the Republic of Austria. Then she managed a department with a leading and globally active research & analytics provider in India, with clients from the US and Europe. In 2010 she founded Bauer Business Research with a focus on research and research training. Birgit holds a master’s degree in material engineering from the Mining University of Leoben and has work experience in scientific research, sales and product development. She is well connected with international information experts and participates in international conferences of the information industry regularly. In November 2021 she published her first book “Jobsuche im Internet – einfach, schnell, erfolgreich”.

Céline Bélanger

Since 2004, as an independent information professional, Céline Bélanger helps organizations cure their infobesity with the right dosage of relevant content to seamlessly complete their health research projects. Founder of Cogniges inc., Céline designs information search plans and strategies to retrieve scientific articles, reports and grey literature documents. She specializes in the pharmaceutical, health and technology sector. Céline has a master’s degree in Information Sciences from Université de Montréal and a bachelors’ degree in Psychology from McGill University. Celine is a member of the Association of Independent Information Professionals and the Communauté de pratique en santé et services sociaux du Québec. In her spare times, Céline teaches yoga classes.

Kelly Berry

Kelly Berry is the owner of ResourceAbility, LLC and Learn Start Grow, LLC. She has been working with start-ups and small business owners since 2005, offering market research, business planning and strategic planning services. She is a trained and licensed CEO Peer Group facilitator, running several groups in Wisconsin. She is also a certified Market Research Specialist and a Strategic Research Team Leader for the National Center for Economic Gardening and the Wisconsin Center for Business Intelligence. She taught a class called “Developing New Products and Services” for the UW MBA Consortium for 7 years and has taught several different classes in the College of Business at UWEC. Kelly was the Western Wisconsin Businesswoman of the Year in 2018, and the Outstanding MBA Faculty Member in 2014. Her husband is on his second entrepreneurial venture, and Kelly is on her third (including one miserable failure). Kelly currently serves on three non-profit boards and that’s as bureaucratic as she wants to be. She could never work for a big company again and is passionate about helping small businesses grow through research, workshops and peer groups. When she’s not working, she is walking her dogs, playing tennis or curling.

Rhonda Bowen

Rhonda L. Bowen is a communication guide with over 30 years’ experience in communicating across cultures. An American living in Germany since 1983, she has worked with people from more than 70 countries. Since 1988 her coaching practice has brought insights and support to thousands of BEST professionals (business, engineering, science, and technology). She specializes in helping them improve their communication. This saves resources and leads to better results and higher success in business and personal goals. She offers a wide range of programs and services – from individual and team coaching, to negotiation seminars and online and offline facilitation for corporations and organizations.

Sue Lacey Bryant

Passionate about bringing knowledge to bear on the millions of decisions made by clinicians and patients week in week in, and about improving the quality of healthcare, Sue has extensive experience of shaping innovative roles in Knowledge Management in England. Sue worked predominantly in primary care, becoming Chief Knowledge Officer for a Primary Care Trust in the UK; and later Director of a Clinical Commissioning Group. With wide experience of developing services, people and products, and change management in the NHS and also in the private sector, Sue enjoyed working as an independent information specialist for 17 years.

Today, leading the development and implementation of HEE’s Knowledge for Healthcare strategy, Sue heads up a top team, working with health knowledge and library teams across England. As head of profession for knowledge and library specialists in the National Health Service in England, Sue is responsible for ensuring this specialised workforce has the confidence and skills needed to maximise investment in digital knowledge resources and mobilise evidence in our digital age. A member of the UK Mobilising Computable Biomedical Knowledge (MCBK) Steering Group; member of CARE (Coordinated Approaches to Research and care Embedded); Trustee, CILIP Board; Editorial Advisory Board, HILJ; Associate of FCI; Q community; Primary Care Improvement Faculty, NHS England and Improvement. Heather Carine

Heather Carine is the founder of Carine Research, Australia’s only independent investigative research firm specialising in market, competitive and corporate intelligence. In 2006 Heather started Carine Research and joined AIIP. Heather is a past editor of the AIIP blog and AIIP Connections, and has held roles as co-chair of local groups, co-ordinator of AIIP Asia-Pacific local group, and Conference workshops co-ordinator for several AIIP conferences. Heather founded the Adelaide Independent Consultants’ Collective in 2017.

Denise Carter

Denise is Managing Director of DCision Consult which delivers competitive intelligence and business information research to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. Denise really loves information and finding creative ways to pull data and information together to answer the very varied questions her clients ask. She will very shortly step up as AIIP President for 2022-2023, a challenge is she really looking forward to. Denise has previously been very active with the UK information professionals association CILIP, chairing their Knowledge & Information Management special interest group. Denise has published several articles on a variety of information topics, including customer service, artificial intelligence, getting value out of information subscriptions. And she is working on delivering online training courses on the topics of managing and using information to add value to businesses.

Chrissy Geluk

Chrissy Geluk is the principal and founder of Librarian At Your Service, LLC, which she founded in July 2015 after serving internal clients for a multinational pharmaceutical company. Her first exposure to the Microsoft family of products was when she migrated the corporate library site to SharePoint 2010 Foundation. Since then, Chrissy has continued to leverage the Microsoft 365 product family—including Teams, SharePoint, and the Power Platform—for both her clients and her family. Chrissy has held numerous volunteer leadership positions with SLA, the Patent Information Users Group (PIUG), and AIIP. She is active with Microsoft Communities as well as the Association for Intelligent Information Management (AIIM) and DIA. Richard Hulser

Richard Hulser is president of Richard P. Hulser Consulting and focuses on helping clients in organizing, preserving, and making their historic content accessible. He has experience in corporate, academic, and museum libraries and archives, as well as vendor information services. His expertise also includes content licensing and scholarly research analysis with altmetrics. Richard is a Fellow of SLA and recipient of the SLA 2020 John Cotton Dana award in recognition of a lifetime of achievement and exceptional service to SLA and the library and information profession.

Deb Hunt

Deb Hunt is Principal of Information Edge, www.information-edge.com, which specializes in KM, DM and DAM. From 2013-2021, she was also Library Director at the Mechanics’ Institute (www.milibrary.org), in San Francisco. Deb was SLA’s 2013 President. Her presidential theme was “Transform Knowledge and Expertise into Strategic Value”. In 2020, she served as President of SLA’s Knowledge Management Community and is the 2022 President of the SLA San Francisco Bay Area Community. She has authored numerous articles, presented webinars and at many conferences, and has received several professional awards. From 2015-2019, Deb was the co-presenter through SLA of “Knowledge Management/Knowledge Services”, a multi-part webinar and seminar series. Jill Hurst-Wahl

Jill Hurst-Wahl is a consultant, speaker, writer, researcher, and educator. She is president of Hurst Associates, Ltd., which works with a broad range of organizations. Jill is professor emerita in Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies, where she taught graduate M.S. Library and Information Science (MSLIS) courses, including “Copyright for Information Professionals.” She is a former director of the iSchool MSLIS program. Prior to joining SU, Jill worked as an IT professional, corporate librarian, and information consultant. She is a current member of the Onondaga County Public Library Board of Trustees, EveryLibrary Institute, and Library Futures. She is a former member of the Special Libraries Association Board of Directors, the NYS Regents Advisory Council on Libraries, and the USNY Technology Policy and Practices Council. Jill is the 2021 recipient of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) highest honor, John Cotton Dana Award, which is given in recognition of a lifetime of achievement as well as exceptional service to SLA and the library and information profession. Janel Kinlaw

Janel Kinlaw is the Manager of Refining Workflow LLC and provides consulting services in project management, business analysis and product ownership. She received her MLIS from Drexel University in 2005 and has been a Certified ScrumMaster since 2014. Her experiences with failure come from her past project work but also being a mother to 3 girls. Janel currently serves on SLA's Annual Conference Advisory Council and is AIIP's Director of Outreach. In addition, she volunteers on multiple boards for local non-profit organizations. Outside of work, Janel reads, paints with watercolors and hangs out with her family.

Dan Kramer

Dan Kramer, President of KPA Strategies, has more than 25 years of experience in political, campaign, and trade association management, investigative research, and public relations. Elizabeth F. McLean MSLS, CKS, is principal knowledge and information strategist at Knowsaic, a consulting practice based in the Washington, DC area. Liz earned a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from The Catholic University of America and is a Certified Knowledge Specialist in Knowledge Transfer. An early adopter of web collaboration and digital content collection solutions, Liz creates frameworks to innovate knowledge sharing, retention, and information organization. She is a passionate manager and facilitator of virtual communities of practice, interest, or learning. Kelly Schrank

Kelly Schrank, MA, ELS, has been a technical editor for over 20 years and a medical editor for over 10 years. Through her business, Bookworm Editing Services, she brings consistency, structure, and clarity to her clients’ content regardless of whether she is writing content like blog posts, style guides, and standard operating procedures or editing manuscripts, formulary dossiers, proposals, slide decks, and training materials. Kelly has presented on editing, checklists, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, side gigs, and networking in webinars and conferences for AIIP, AMWA, and STC.

Cindy Shamel

Cindy Shamel is a twice past president of AIIP with almost 25 years as an independent info pro. She has navigated upturns, downturns, relocations, client fluctuations, and changing product offerings to survive and thrive. Cindy's clients have ranged from a 2-person consulting team to an international hotel chain and a local art museum to a world-renowned symphony orchestra. Product offerings include systematic literature reviews for the biomedical industry, knowledge management consulting, and competitive intelligence research. Cindy specializes in listening to the clients' need and delivering customized solutions to meet that need. She looks forward to chatting with Deb Hunt about what this has looked like for her and for Deb as they adapted their business models to find what works for each of them.

Randeep Sudan

Randeep is the founder of Multiverz, a Singaporean social enterprise that aims to leverage data analytics and AI to help governments, businesses, and individuals better anticipate and prepare for an uncertain future. Randeep is a board advisor at Ecosystm, a new-age technology firm in Singapore. Randeep has served in senior positions at the World Bank from 2005 to 2018. He served as the head of the World Bank’s global Digital Development unit as its Practice Manager and as the Bank’s international expert on digital strategy and government analytics. He has these capacities, he led an international team of World Bank experts to support developing countries on policies and programs relating to the digital economy. Before joining the World Bank, he was a senior member of the Indian Administrative Service. He helped the state of Andhra Pradesh achieve prominence in digital government and become a key international destination for IT-based services.

Arthur Weiss

Arthur Weiss is the managing director of AWARE, specialising in marketing, OSINT, and competitive intelligence research and training. Arthur offered the world's first workshop on using the Internet for competitive intelligence at the 1997 London International Online Information Conference. Along the way he’s come across useful websites, crazy sites, and sites that probably shouldn’t even exist (try http://www.jacksonpollock.org). Arthur has consulted for several leading companies in the information industry and has written articles and lectured on a variety of marketing and information industry topics. Arthur is a Chartered Marketer with the UK's Chartered Institute of Marketing and a member of SLA, the Association of MBAs, and AIIP, where he has served as a board member. Arthur is married to an educator, Susy, and has two children who support his quest to stay one step ahead of Millennials who have imbibed online technologies since birth.

Rachel Yang

Rachel Yang is a human factors engineer and ISC2 Certified Information System Security Professional. She has worked in enterprise information security for 10 years at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and is currently earning a doctorate in sociotechnical cybersecurity at the University of Maryland. She also consults with small and micro businesses to be compliant with security regulations and maintain business continuity.
